Like cultures all over the world, we gather to celebrate the changing of seasons. In Shambhala these are called “nyida” days from the Tibetan words nyima (sun) and dawa (moon), and they occur on, or near, the days of the equinoxes and solstices.

Harvest of Peace is the time of year when we gather to examine and re-seed our relationship with the generosity and abundance which strengthens and sustains us throughout the year. It's a time of encouragement, raising each other's energy and rousing excitement for the year to come.

Fundraising for our local Austin center is an important part of this tradition.  If we feel nourished by what this center has to offer, it is important that we provide nourishment back for the ongoing health and continuity of that which is so precious to us.

Our goal this fundraising season is to raise $20,000

  • To start a new roof fund for the Main Building - our current roof is well over 35 years old - it has a few good years left but we need to start a fund for it now.
  • To prioritize Pergola completion - need we say more?  Let's get that thing finished!
  • To start a landscaping fund - Jinji Willingham generously stepped in to oversee landscaping last year and she needs a budget (currently non-existent.) Removal of the defunct pond will be a priority.
  • To cover the shortfall created by unforeseen insurance costs in 2024.

To make a one-time donation, follow this link and please select the Harvest of Peace designation directly beneath your contribution amount. Our Donorbox application allows you to give with any credit card of your choosing, via ApplePay or GooglePay, or with a one-time draft from your bank account.

If you wish to pledge at this time but pay at a later date or in installments, you may indicate your pledge by clicking the register button below.  We will send you invoices as reminders for any unpaid balances.  This method will require making payments through PayPal.

Membership dues remain the principal source of budget revenue, and raising monthly contributions will provide a stable base for center operations.

To increase your membership dues:

  • Most of us give via automatic monthly drafts directly from our bank accounts. Many give via our Donorbox application and some via a Paypal subscription. Whichever of these is the case for you, all you need to do is send an email to Christine with your instructions and it will be done. Legally, verbal instructions are not adequate - it needs to be in writing!
  • Those of you who give monthly or annually by check - please drop us a line to let us know of any intended changes so that we may track this year's campaign progress and plan accordingly.
