It’s finally autumn, and this year you can actually feel it. Over the years our community has adopted a tradition of celebrating the changes of the seasons. These are called “nyida” days from the Tibetan words nyima (sun) and dawa (moon), and they occur on, or near, the days of the equinoxes and solstices. It is a time of coming together to renew and strengthen our bonds through practice and celebration.

This year’s Harvest of Peace will be appropriately covid aware and fully online. The day will begin with the beautiful and poignant White Tara practice. Next, local community players will delight us with the Austin Shambhala version of "Family Feud” – teams led by our two shastris. After that we will break for lunch, which can be on your own or together on zoom. In the afternoon we will join Shambhala Online’s Mindful Harvest Feasting: A Harvest of Peace Celebration. Teacher Marcella Friel will feature foods of harvest bounty and offer inspiring insights about the importance of our prayers and aspirations during meals.

Come practice, socialize and harvest together the abundance and blessings of the wisdom teachings and the community that we share. Consider all we have continued to receive this year. Our annual Harvest of Peace fundraiser which runs Sep 12-26 is described below. This includes specific projects we hope to support through this year’s annual Harvest of Peace fundraising campaign. Please try to make your contribution during this window of time so that we can announce our final collection at the Harvest of Peace celebration.
